Hans A. Buchdahl. For his extensive publications in the field of geometrical optics, relativity, and thermodynamics, and for developing a practical way of computing the higher order aberration coefficients of lens systems (Buchdahl's optical aberration coefficients).
A German by birth, Hans Buchdahl has lived most of his life in Australia, where he worked originally at the University of Tasmania. In the 1960s, he because Department Head in Theoretical Physics at the Australian National University in Canberra. Although now retired, he maintains an emeritus position at the Australian National University to continue his scientific pursuits.
Buchdahl's work in optics has concentrated in the theoretical analysis of optical systems using Lagrangian aberration functions or Hamilton's characteristic functions. He has made significant contributions in the areas of aberration theory, algorithms for the calculation of aberration coefficients, limitations imposed by system symmetries and in the definition of chromatic coordinates for modeling dispersion. He has published two books and over 100 papers on geometrical optics, and has published extensively in the field of relativity and thermodynamics.
从上面的描述可以看出来Buchdahl's optical aberration coefficients是一种比较实用的用于计算高级像差的方法，由德国人Buchdahl提出。Code V中的五级像差系数即是Buchdahl's optical aberration coefficients。估计没有什么通用的中文名称。
