TITLE: Quality Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Quality Assurance
POSITION SUMMARY: Develops, implements, and maintains procedures and techniques to ensure process capability, process control and process improvement in products, processes, components, or materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Responsible for interpreting standards, specifications and quality requirements and monitoring compliance to established procedures for a defined segment of the organization.
· Assess program or project in terms of business impact, cost, and customer need. Requires an ability to analyze risks, benefits, and costs, and make subsequent recommendation for actions, policies, or procedures.
· Responsible for developing and implementing quality improvement programs with direction from management by translating organizational objectives into detailed project plans.
Performs advanced statistical analysis of product, process, component, or material data to determine proper direction relative to their optimization.
· Initiates corrective action and reviews proposed solutions to problems and ensures timely implementation and closure.
· Interfaces withXX functions, customer, and suppliers to ensure that quality requirements are included in the product, process, component, or material plans as well as monitoring compliance through implementation.
· Performs other related duties as required.

Will serve as a member of a project or team with cross functional influence. Will have cross functional involvement. May have influence role outside of XX of building and maintaining relationships with customers, vendors or others.

Makes decisions on operating procedures, analytical approach and work flow. May have an input into customer/client tactics and targets.

Problems may be nonroutine and multifaceted. May need to define problems where facts are incomplete. Must work around project deadlines, scheduling, and priorities. May have to provide guidance to less experience personnel.

· Typically requires understanding of state of the art technical, functional, or business knowledge.
· Emphasis of the position is on depth of knowledge in a specialized area.
· Needs basic project management skills as well as communication, analytical and negotiation
skills.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
· Degree in engineering, or related experience
· Some industry experience desirable.
· Knowledge of ISO 9000 and state of the art quality technologies.
· Excellent computer skills and knowledge in the use of software database and statistical programs.
