Our Client has an immediate opening for a laser applications engineer. Our client is a leader in manufacturing laser welding systems and laser marking systems.
Successful Candidate Will:
• Evaluate customer’s applications and contact customers and/or Sales Managers & Reps to obtain the necessary information needed to complete the applications in a timely manner.
• Complete laser processing of the application, including welding, cutting, marking and allied processes
• Evaluating materials for compatibility with laser welding/marking
• Developing laser welding/marking parameters
• Writing a CNC program as required by the application.
• Write a detailed report of findings to include laser parameters, recommendation of suitable laser and CNC equipment required for the application (May require reviewing equipment specifications personally or with the Product Engineer).
• Work with systems engineers to define the system and tooling required.
• Provide phone and email support to customers and other departments.
• Occasional travel to customer facilities. (Running training classes, installation and set up of equipment, or carry out weld development).
• Give Presentations on the Fundamentals of Laser welding/marking, use and application of equipment, sizing of equipment for applications, DoE’s.
• Provide training to existing and prospective customers.
Required Education, Experience and Capability:
• Four year engineering degree in Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, material Science, or equivalent
• Significant hands-on capability in an engineering lab environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communications on technical subjects
• Excellent computer skills and demonstrated ability in PowerPoint, Word and Excel
• Positive attitude towards satisfying customer requirements
• Good time management skills and ability to multiplex tasks without supervision.
• Occasional travel in America’s, Europe and Asia.
Plusses:
• Working knowledge of industrial lasers a plus
• Experience operating industrial equipment
• Practical welding experience.
• AutoCAD or Solidworks ability a plus
• Experience with CNC motion systems a plus
