The 2nd Biennial Symposium and Summer School on
Nano and Giga Challenges in Microelectronics
Research and Development Opportunities (NGCM2004)
As a follow-up to the success of the 2002 Moscow Nano Giga Forum, we
want to invite you to the 2nd Nano Giga event in the beautiful Polish
city of Cracow. It will be held under patronage of Jagiellonian University
and co-sponsored by Fujitsu Poland.
SCOPE:
Abstracts are invited in the following areas:
- highest frequency electronics,
- fabrication of nanodevices,
- future bio- and molecular electronics,
- magnetic materials and spintronics,
- materials and processes for integrated and subwave optoelectronics,
- molecular electronics,
- new materials for gate and dielectrics in FETs,
- atomic scale design: theory and experiment,
- non-silicon materials and devices,
- quantum effects in devices.
MEETING FORMAT:
The meeting opens with a Summer School (first 2 days), to be followed by
the Symposium (last 3 days). The Summer School provides overview of the
current status of the field and consists of plenary tutorial lectures
and panel discussions involving participants and speakers. The Symposium
includes plenary talks in the morning, followed by an afternoon of oral
and poster presentations organized in sessions. Evening sessions will
focus on technology trends and collaboration opportunities.
INITIAL LIST OF SPEAKERS:
Asen Assenov, University of Glasgow; Sorin Cristoloveanu, ENSERG; Jan
Fompeyrine, IBM; David Gilmer, Motorola; Eric Garfunkel, Rutgers
University; Torgny Gustafsson, Rutgers University; Tamotsu Hashizume,

PROCEEDINGS PUBLICATION:
The proceedings of our meeting in Moscow have been published by Elsevier
in three volumes (a monograph and two journal issues: Microelectronic
Engineering and Computational Materials Science --
http://asdn.net/publications/). We are planning to follow the same model
for the Cracow meeting..
On-line registration, abstract submission, and constantly updated
information are available from the meeting web site:
