New Features
All Layout plots and CAD export features now support a grid of rays in addition to the existing ray pattern options.
User defined scattering for NSC objects has been implemented using a link to an external DLL which scatters the specular ray computed by ZEMAX. The DLL allows user definition of arbitrary scattering properties.
A new Scatter Function Viewer plots the BSDF for all surface scattering models, including the new user defined scattering DLL.
The design of the NSC Object Properties Dialog box has been updated.
The Lens Notes feature has been revised to allow easier editing of a full paragraph of text data.
The glass catalog now features a melt frequency parameter which indicates the relative frequency the glass manufacturer melts each glass.
The glass catalog now features a status parameter which indicates if the glass is standard, preferred, obsolete, special, or melt. These designations may be used to assist glass selection.
The glass catalog now supports a comment field for individual glasses and catalogs.
Many of the glass catalogs have been consolidated to include current, preferred, and obsolete glasses from a vendor in one catalog.
The glass substitution template now supports flags to select or exclude standard, preferred, special, or obsolete glasses.
The glass dialog now supports sorting on name, index, Abbe, cost, TCE, D0, and status.
The exact, full precision nd and vd values computed from the dispersion coefficients rather than the catalog supplied values are used by TIND, TABB, and the glass catalog editor.
A glass comparison feature allows direct comparison of up to 3 catalogs to assist in finding equivalent glasses from different vendors.
The default glass catalog is now user selectable.
The Merit Function, Tolerance Data, and Multi-Configuration Editors now support default and user selectable colors for each row in the spreadsheet.
A general gradient index profile feature plots index as a function of either x, y, or z.
The field and wavelength dialog boxes now retain data for unselected fields and wavelengths, and the unselected data is stored with the ZMX file for future use.
Spot diagrams may now be referenced to the surface vertex.
User defined apertures on sequential surfaces are now defined in external ASCII files, just like those used by NSC objects. Available aperture files may be selected from a drop-down list.
User defined aperture files may now be defined and changed on the multi-configuration editor.
User defined NSC sources now support up to 245 terms.
ZPL keyword UPDATE now allows updating a single window.
ZPL keyword SETSURFACEPROPERTY allows detailed control over many surface data items. Similar function SPRO extracts surface data items.
ZPL keywords INSERTMFO and DELETEMFO insert and delete new optimization operands.
ZPL keyword SAVEMERIT saves the current merit function to a file.
NSC objects Rectangular Pipe and Rectangular Volume now support front and rear tilt angles in both X and Y directions.
A new Annular Volume NSC object has been added. The volume supports tilted elliptical annular front and rear faces.
The source ellipse now supports definition of an annular region that emits rays.
The filter string used by many NSC features has been extended with new arguments testing ray cosine and coordinate values.
The items on the Tools menu have been divided into groups to make the menu easier to use.
The footprint feature now colors spots by either field, wavelength, or configuration.
Multi-Configuration operand LTTL controls the lens title.
Coating tapers are now listed on the coating report.
The polarization transmission and transmission fan features now report the % completed.
The polarization transmission fan now supports the active cursor.
The CAD export is now faster for selected surface types.
The format of the image analysis text output has been improved.
The Relative Illumination, Geometric MTF vs. Field, and FFT MTF vs. Field plots now support a choice of field scan direction: +y, +x, -y, or -x.
Random rays are now allowed on the CAD export feature.
