FPD Taiwan 2006, the largest flat-panel display (FPD) show in Taiwan, will be held at the Taipei World Trade Center from June 14 to 16. However, the number of the exhibitors has decreased from 2005 and major overseas LCD makers are still not represented at the show, so it seems the regional event is not attracting enough attention from competing countries such as Japan and South Korea. The exposition, organized by SEMI and the Photonics Industry Technology Development Association (PIDA), will feature more than 230 companies, occupying 735 booths, and will showcase the latest flat panels and related manufacturing technologies. In 2005, the show saw more than 250 exhibitors with over 670 booths and attracted more than 23,000 visitors. This year, exhibitors will include major panel makers such as AU Optronics (AUO), Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO), Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT), TPO Displays (formerly named Toppoly Optoelectronics) and Wintek; related components and materials providers including Corning, DuPont, and Wellypower Optronics, along with world-class equipment companies such as AKT, Unaxis, Ulvac, Orbotech and Shibaura. HannStar Display will not attend the event although it attended the event last year and showcased a number of LCD TV panels. Quanta Display (QDI), as usual, will not join the event. Likewise, major LCD panel makers in Japan and South Korea will not participate in the event, although companies such as Sharp, Matsushita Electric Industrial, Samsung, Samsung SDI and LG.Philips LCD always make sure to attend FPD International in Yokohama, Japan, which is held every October. The FPD Taiwan show will feature country pavilions from Germany and South Korea, a panel maker pavilion, exhibitor seminars, an academic plaza, and the Taiwan FPD Hall where visitors can learn about the current status of Taiwan's flat panel industry. Other exposition activities include the FPD welcome Reception, business and technology Forums and SEMI International standards programs. The forum on June 14 will include sessions on the global display market trends, LED applications, mobile TV trends and advances in the display manufacturing process, OLED technology and backlighting sources. A new session, Innovation Display, will explore innovations in display technology, including organic TFT, field-emission display (FED) and flexible displays. The SEMI International Standards Programs from June 15 to 16 will feature sessions on FPD materials standards, an FPD safety standards workshop, a standard tutorial and an FPD factory automation standard workshop. The 2006 Taiwan Display Conference, to be held June 15 to 16 at the Taipei International Convention Center (TICC), will feature experts giving perspective on the latest RD trends in the flat panel industry. Taiwan has become the world's largest producer of TFT LCDs, with a forecasted 2006 market share of more than 40%, according to DigiTimes Research. While LCDs remain the largest growth segment in the flat-panel industry, Taiwan is a strong player in the development of other FPD product segments, including TN/STN, OLED (organic light-emitting diode) technologies. Concurrently, PIDA will hold a variety of FPD-related shows at Taipei World Trade Center (June 14-17): OPTO Taiwan 2006 (optoelectronics exposition), LED Lighting Taiwan 2006 (LED lighting exposition), Optics Taiwan 2006 (precision optics exposition) and OptoCom Taiwan 2006 (fiber communication broadband exposition). 原文网址:http://www.digitimes.com/displays/a20060613VL203.html |
