OCP ANNOUNCES SFP TRANSCEIVERS FOR 120km GIGABIT ETHERNET CWDM AND SINGLE WAVELENGTH APPLICATIONS High sensitivity APD receiver design is used to extend transmission distance up to 120km to address Gigabit Ethernet in the Metro Market.
WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., --(Business Wire)- July 14, 2004 - Optical Communication Products, Inc. (NASDAQ: OCPI), a manufacturer of fiber optic subsystems and modules for metropolitan, local and storage area networks, today announced the expansion of its Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) product line with the addition of Very Long Haul (VLH) SFPs, designed for Gigabit Ethernet up to 120km transmission distance. These VLH SFP transceivers are available for either single channel or Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) applications. In addition, they have integrated Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) functionality.
“We continue to expand our product portfolio to address an ever changing market,” said Kirk Bovill, OCP director of marketing, “The Gigabit Ethernet space requires a high-density, pluggable option that extends beyond the existing 80km link and we have been able to provide the solution to address up to 120km for both single channel and CWDM solutions.”
The VLH SFP transceiver design uses a 1550nm DFB laser with an integrated optical isolator and a high sensitivity Avalanche Photodiode (APD) receiver to provide a minimum link budget of 32dB. The VLH SFP CWDM option offers eight wavelength channels compliant with ITU-G.694.2 wavelength standard.
The DDM functionality adheres to the SFF-8472, Revision 9.3 specification and enables the end-user to monitor five key areas in the performance of the SFP transceiver: internal temperature, DC supply voltage, transmitter bias current, transmitter output power and receive optical signal level. Integrated DDM functionality also incorporates warnings and alarms to monitor these parameters. |
