Position1: Optical Engineer

Key Areas of Responsibility:
1. After being trained, this position will design various types of lens optics and reflector optics for illumination. This will involve the basic design of TIR collimators, pillow optics, and reflector optics.
2. Lab Testing: Setup experiments and run tests to verify optical performance of components and fixtures after being trained on how to use the lab equipment.
3. Perform benchmark analysis on internal products and competitor products after being trained on how to use the lab equipment.
4. Help coordinate all measurement activity that is done in the Optics Lab. This will involve keeping the lab equipment calibrated and coordinating the co-op’s time to do lab measurements.
5. Help coordinate all outside measurement activity. This includes getting PO’s filled out and following up with accounting on invoice billing.
6. Help coordinate prototyping activity. This will include filling out Purchase Orders, setting up new vendors, and coordinating data exchange for molding and coating of optics.
7. Perform basic feasibility analysis.

This position is for experienced optical engineer to do optical design and provide technical support for passive device and module products.

Key responsibilities:
1) Work on optical development on passive device, modules and subsystems for optical communication networks.
2) Focus on optical design, technical support, process design and improvement.
3) In charge of creating and maintaining BOM, optical design review.
4) Leadership sample build and failure analysis and DOE design.
5) Work on related design output documents and release in Agile systems.
6) Work with the San Jose R&D team for the cooperative project or product development.
7) Support product transfer from San Jose to Shenzhen and local sourcing on key material.

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degrees (Master's preferred) in Optics, telecommunication, physics or related.
2. 4+ (for bachelor degree) or 2+ (for master degree) years work experience in fiber-optic communication industry.
3.Good experience and solid knowledge on design /develop /manufacturing for passive products.
4.Efficient communication skills and demonstrated problem solving ability.
5.Ability to work independently and excellent skills working in cross-functional teams.
6.Better knowledge in speaking, writing, reading English.

Preferred Qualifications:
7. Familiar with optic software such as Z-MAX, OPTIWAVE，RSOFT.

Requirement:
1. The ideal candidate will have a BS in optical engineering with extensive laboratory work. At a minimum the candidate should have basic course work in optics and experience with running test equipment in a laboratory and a degree in ME, EE, or Physics.
2. This person should be able to work independently under aggressive timelines and date driven schedules. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
3. The candidate should demonstrate an ongoing commitment to maintain current with changing industry trends and breakthroughs in optics and any technical area that affects optics, such as coating or molding or manufacturing practices.
