Abstract: In the method described, a rough surface is illuminated successively from different directions by a laser beam (HeNe). Two speckle patterns are produced and their correlation depends on the surface roughness. The patterns are recorded on the same film by double exposure. Correlation is deduced by measurements of the visibility of Young fringes. Theory of the method is given and experimental results are described.
