LONDON — Contract design and manufacturing group Jabil Circuit has formed a joint venture with German optics leader Carl Zeiss Jena GmbH to develop optical modules.
Jabil said the partnership will let it offer improved optics and light processing capabilities in its line of display technologies used in consumer electronics.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed but Jabil said it would control a majority stake in the venture.
Carl Zeiss will provide digital light processing (DLP) technology know-how to the partnership, including core competencies in the development, technology, marketing, sales and production of display applications. Jabil will integrate the products developed into platforms, targeting a range of consumer electronics manufacturers.
"Our strong technical and manufacturing capabilities coupled with the superior optics and light processing experience of Carl Zeiss, will give us a leading role in the growing optical module and optical engine market," said Scott Brown, Executive Vice President, Jabil Circuit, in a statement. |
